Drive For Schools

It’s DRIVE FOR SCHOOLS 2016 fundraising time again. Every year students at participating schools throughout Santa Cruz County sell tickets for a chance to win a new car or $25,000 in cash, and a hundred other prizes.   Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25. On Sept. 15th each student receives two ticket books (12 tickets). Please help your student(s) sell their tickets to neighbors, friends and family members. More details and information will be provided with your student’s books.

Drive for Schools is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Our 2016/2017 goal is to raise $26,000.

Valencia has been one of the top selling schools for the past six years.  Last year we were the top elementary school selling over $25,000 in tickets!  We’d like to keep that tradition going.

100% of all ticket sales go directly to Valencia.  The money we raise pays for our reading programs, it puts aides in our classrooms, it supports our garden, art, and science programs, and much, much more.  Even if you only sell 1 ticket, that $5 makes a big difference.

The last day to turn in tickets is Friday, October 14th.

The top selling class gets a party (pizza, dance, etc.) of their choice and $300 for the teacher to spend on classroom supplies.   All classes that fully participate (meaning every student sells at least one ticket), will get a class party.  There are also prizes for the students who sell the most tickets.

Chairperson Darcy Pruitt welcomes volunteers interested in making this event successful. There’s a list below of titles and tasks if you’re interested in taking on a task or two. Many thanks for your consideration in helping make this a great fundraiser for Valencia! GO SEASTARS!

About Drive For Schools

Drive For Schools, founded in 2005 by Subaru of Santa Cruz and now sponsored by the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and The Capitola Auto Mall Dealer Group, has successfully raised millions of dollars for Santa Cruz County schools through their annual car giveaway.

In the 2015/2016 school year, participating schools raised more than $629,000.

Schools with the highest 2015 sales:

Top High School: Soquel High School – $37,370

Top Junior High: Mission Hill Junior High – $9,135

Top Elementary: Valencia Elementary – $25,775

Special Spirit Award – Tierra Pacifica – $26,600

All elementary, middle, and high schools in Santa Cruz County are invited to participate. This year, more schools than ever have chosen to participate in this amazing event. Best of all, each participating school keeps every dollar they earn AND they decide how best to spend the money.

For the 2015/2016 school year we raised $25,775 dollars!  We were the top selling elementary school in Santa Cruz County!!  Thank you to all of the Valencia families, friends and neighbors who bought tickets from our students. We really appreciate all of our students hard work selling tickets. Because we exceeded our $25,000 goal this year, we had an all school dance party to celebrate!

A very special thanks to Darcy Pruitt for heading our annual Drive for School fundraiser.  Her dedication to this effort is the reason we were so successful!
